Funding

AMSI continually seeks to identify industry needs and opportunities that can be addressed using the mathematical sciences. Our approach to industry support is flexible but governed by a guiding principle that AMSI Industry Projects must provide a financial return to AMSI and its members.

AMSI Industry projects will usually be identified by:
• Potential industry partners approaching AMSI with a problem;
• AMSI seeking industry partners; or
• members approaching AMSI with a project proposal.

Cash or in-kind support may be provided for:
• ARC Linkage grants;
• pilot or demonstration industry projects; and/or
• developing, securing and managing industry projects.

Projects may be:
• identified, managed and resourced entirely by AMSI;
• identified and managed by AMSI and resourced by staff working at member institutions; or
• identified by AMSI and managed and resourced by member institutions.

Projects identified and managed by AMSI will attract a 15% fee.
Projects identified / facilitated by AMSI but managed and resourced by member institutions will attract a minimum 5% success fee. The success fee is to cover time invested in identifying and developing and submitting proposals.

In the first instance requests for AMSI support should be kept to 2 pages and include an approximate budget. Collaborative projects that involve more than one institutional member will be given priority. Projects receiving AMSI support are required to:
• provide regular reports to AMSI and
• acknowledge AMSI sponsorship in all reports, publications and public addresses where project findings are presented.
