The Education Advisory Committee provides general program advice on education‑related activities carried out under the auspices of the International Centre of Excellence for Education in Mathematics (ICE‑EM), the education division of AMSI. The Committee is chaired by Prof. Peter Taylor (Australian Mathematics Trust) and comprises distinguished mathematics educators.
ICE‑EM was initially funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST), its aim to improve the mathematical sciences base through improved mathematics education in schools, higher education, research and industry. Following cessation of the DEST funding in 2008 a re‑defined ICE‑EM program is running, funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR); commercial‑generated income, and contributions from Corporate Members. |
Message to parents:
There have been recent reports in the media regarding high-pressure techniques used in the marketing and sale of computer based
mathematics learning systems. The Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) is not in any way associated, connected or
affiliated with companies or organisations involved in these activities, and does not endorse or vouch for such products in any way.
