Lecture 1	2 sessions, Thursday 1:00pm August 26 2010 1st: an introduction to topological groups, peculiarities and important features, 2nd: von Neumann’s proof of Existence and Uniqueness of a Haar measure in compact groups.
Lecture 2	Applications, Thursday 1:00pm September 2, 2010 1st: measures in homogeneous spaces, 2nd: translation invariant summing operators on C(G), G compact.
Lecture 3	Further applications, Thursday 1:00pm September 16, 2010 1st: representation theory and orthogonality relations, 2nd: Milman’s theorem (re: Dvoretzky’s Spherical Sections theorem)
Lecture 4	Other proofs of existence, September 23, 2010 Banach, Maak, martingales.
Lecture 5	What’s so in: Thursday October 7, 2010 General locally compact groups, locally compact metrizable groups, Polish, non‑locally‑compact groups.
