Professor Shing-Tung Yau will describe in general terms how geometry enables the understanding of space time and trace its historical development from the ancient Greeks through Einstein to modern string theory, analysing the contributions of many great geometers and physicists along the way.

This lecture is based upon the recently published book by Professor Yau and Steve Nadis, The Shape of Inner Space: String theory and the geometry of the universe's hidden dimensions.

AMSI Members: We will be unable to offer use of the AMSI travel allowance for this event.

ANU has provided support for Prof. Yau's travel to Melbourne.
