
AMSI / MASCOS Industry workshop & ICE WaRM Industry Short Course: The mathematics of water supply and pricing

Overview
This 3-day long event will consist of three short courses, invited lectures and contributed talks on the mathematics of water supply and pricing.
The topics likely to be addressed will be: Water trading, pricing models, demand forecasting, risk management, network modelling and management, monitoring water quality, network optimisation and water economics.
Goals of the event are to:
- Present recent developments on mathematics and statistics applied to water management with emphasis on water markets
- Facilitate knowledge transfer and industry linkages
- Promote industry development

Short talks are invited. Talks are to be 15 minutes with 5 minutes for discussion. Abstracts for contributed talks may be submitted by email
. Abstracts should be in Word, text or latex format and no more than 300 words. The Organising Committee will make the final choice of presentations.

Accommodation
Attendees should book their own accommodation. Accommodation is available at the venue (the Holiday Inn) and at a range of hotels / motels nearby (see below). Please contact them directly on 1800 262 468 to book and pay for your accommodation. To avoid disappointment we recommend you book early.
Holiday Inn (22 View Street, Surfers Paradise)
Accommodation at Holiday Inn Surfers Paradise starts from $180/night (single) or $200/night for two people (double or twin). Price includes full buffet breakfast, newspaper, security undercover car park (subject to availability), and complimentary use of gym, sauna and pool. This is a special price for event delegates so when booking, you must mention that you are attending the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute event. The rate is subject to the availability of rooms.
Paradise Towers Apartments
Accommodation at Paradise Towers Apartments starts from $95 a night, has in-room cooking available and is located 10 minutes walk from the venue.
Partners
Delegates who want to book their partner to the Tuesday dinner may do so. Cost is $80 payable by cash or credit card on the night. This covers a set menu (probably buffet) and a range of drinks for 4 hours. Bookings are required by Monday, 7 July 2008 to
Student travel and accommodation
Students attending this event may claim travel and accommodation from their university's AMSI-provided travel allowance, with the approval of their Head of Mathematics. They should book budget travel and accommodation well in advance to secure the best prices. Accommodation options include the Paradise Towers Apartments (see above).
