Question 1
Zoe bought a bike on sale at 15% off the original price.
The original price was $420.
How much did Zoe pay for the bike?
Solution
Method 1
15% = \(\dfrac{15}{100}\) = 0.15
Selling price | = Original price − 15% of the original price |
= 420 − 15% × 420 (15% can be entered into a calculator using the % button.)
= 420 − 0.15 × 420 | |
= $357. | |
Zoe paid $357 for the bike. |
